Gift

Hi again- Blue 💙 Mom here with thoughts I had to send out before the holiday craziness of traveling, feasting, a soccer showcase, and making new memories with lifelong friends.

When you think of the word gift, what does that word mean to you? I bet it’s more than just a box with beautiful wrapping and ribbon. It means more to me too.

Linley was a gift— the best gift a mother could ever hope to receive. From the world’s easiest baby, to the most independent and sweet toddler, Linley grew to be the extraordinary child we all knew and loved. She is our gift.

Linley was gifted. She competed fiercely, worked with determination, loved deeply, and held herself to high standards with everything. She was gifted at being a daughter, sister, student, teammate and friend.

You are gifts. With you, our family is strong and able to go on. You gave and continue to give so very, very generously without expecting anything in return. Often in my days I think… some kind friend gave me this or sent me that. At the time, I was so consumed with just surviving that I’m not sure if I even properly thanked you. I started to write about some of these thoughtful gifts and quickly realized I could write a hundred pages about how fortunate we are to have all you amazing humans in our lives. Thankful for you.

I also want to take a minute and say thank you for all the support after my first blog post. I’ve been told writing is a gift I have- I appreciate the kind words, but it’s more because I had an incredible English teacher in high school (shout out to Mr. Cervas) and practiced a lot as an English/History major. While the writing part does come somewhat naturally to me, the sharing part doesn’t. It terrifies me. But when I’m scared, Linley whispers “be brave” and only then am I able to muster the courage to hit the ‘publish’ button. My little angel gift that never stops giving.

To kick off the gifting season, and with Giving Tuesday around the corner, Love for Linley Foundation leaps into our 2022 end-of-year campaign:

1,000 Strong 🎩⚽️ Hat Trick for Lin 💙🌟

OUR GOALS:

  • 1,000 visitors to the Love for Linley Foundation website

  • 1,000 followers on LFL Foundations social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram

  • $1,000+ in donations. Now through Giving Tuesday, all gifts up to $1,000 will be matched!

I posted this challenge on social media yesterday and we are already taking steps towards reaching these goals! I will post updates of our progress every few days. So exciting!

Wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, joy and memory making moments.

To my Love for Linley family, my gift of a family— you've been there for us all along and we are always so grateful for you.

And to my girl, my greatest gift— love you always Linley— keep shining your light and I will keep telling your Story.
